About the Role
ChoiceOne is seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Youth Workers to join our casual staffing pool. Successful candidates will provide support to children and young people living in residential care, supported accommodation, and community-based placements.
This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. Shifts may include day, afternoon, evening, overnight, weekend and public holiday work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, respectful and supportive care to children and young people
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meals, routines and transport
- Support young people to engage in education, appointments, recreation and community activities
- Build positive relationships and encourage emotional, social and behavioural development
- Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports and shift documentation
- Follow individual care plans, behaviour support strategies and organisational policies
- Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
- Work collaboratively with carers, families, case managers and other professionals
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children and young people, preferably within child protection, residential care, youth services or community services
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and child-safe principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- 395 Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current driver’s licence and access to reliable transport
- Relevant qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology or a related field (desirable)
