We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transfer Centre Operator to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the Landfill Facility. In this pivotal role, you'll operate a variety of plant and equipment, oversee facility operations, support recycling and transfer station activities, and contribute to site maintenance and environmental management. Your efforts will help maximise resource recovery, maintain safety standards, and uphold the city’s commitment to excellence.
What You Need:
- Proven experience in operating heavy machinery such as waste compactors, track loaders, excavators, and leachate pumping systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
- Ability to perform manual labouring tasks and routine maintenance
- A current ‘HR’ class driver’s license and relevant plant operator tickets
- Police clearance for compliance and safety
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of cash handling for transaction recording
- Experience with waste management regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with landfill operational standards and safety procedures
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in plant operation within a waste management or construction environment
- Relevant certifications and prior work history in similar roles
Additional Requirements:
- Full compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and council policies
- Capability to undertake site maintenance activities, including litter control and infrastructure upkeep
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a physically demanding environment
