We are currently seeking a Traffic Engineer to join a local council team, who are committed to professional development and the celebration of contributions & achievements.
About the Role:
You will provide technical and advisory services across traffic engineering, road safety, transport infrastructure and stakeholder engagement, supporting the Coordinator Traffic Services. You’ll work on everything from investigations and LATM schemes to community consultation and capital works delivery. This is a temporary role with an immediate start and potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional and technical advice on traffic engineering and road safety matters.
- Undertake traffic investigations, feasibility studies and preliminary designs
- Coordinate and deliver LATM schemes and transport-related capital and operational projects
- Support and implement Road Safety and Active Transport projects and Programs.
- Liaise with Local and State Government agencies on transport and access issues
- Prepare grant submissions and administer funded projects
- Contribute to policies, procedures and continuous improvement within the Traffic Services Team
You’re a motivated Traffic Engineer with strong technical capability and the confidence to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. You’re comfortable working autonomously, managing multiple priorities, and delivering practical outcomes in a local government environment.
- Demonstrated experience in traffic or municipal engineering
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in Road Safety Auditing , traffic data analysis and interpretation.
- Strong Knowledge of Road Traffic Act 1974 (WA) and Local Laws
- Experience in application of Traffic Engineering/Road Safety Standards and Guidelines.
- Experience delivering community programs and undertaking consultation
- Experience preparing and acquitting funding submissions
- Highly developed knowledge of LATM Measures
- Local government experience is an added advantage!
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Traffic Engineering
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Police Clearance or ability to obtain one
- Postgraduate qualification in traffic/transport engineering
- Road Safety Auditor accreditation
- Transport modelling experience (SIDRA, LinSig)
- Casual full-time pay: $68–$70/hr + super (76 hours fortnight)
