We are seeking a Statutory Planning Officer to work with a Southern suburbs local council. Your brief will be to use your industry expertise to make a real difference to the community, in the following capacity:

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for assessing planning applications
  • Implement strategic land use and planning projects
  • You will proactively contribute to improving the day-to-day operations of the  team in a statutory, strategic and project planning capacity
  • You will utilise your skills, knowledge and experience to create solutions to planning issues
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Possess a tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent
  • Have gained comprehensive knowledge of town planning principles and Western Australian statutory planning legislation, procedures, policies and practices with an ability to interpret plans
  • Display highly developed interpersonal, communication, networking and relationship building skills with an ability to provide a natural customer service approach
  • Have the ability to work constructively with others in a team environment and to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Show analytical ability and skills in creative thinking, independent research, negotiation and problem-solving
  • Demonstrate developed project management, planning and organisational skills, including the ability to work under pressure, prioritise work and meet challenging timeframes
  • Have good computer literacy skills
  • Possess a valid class c driver’s licence
  • Have previous experience in Planning in Local Government or similar role desirable
