Position Overview:
The Senior Waste Management Officer is responsible for analysing data, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to the delivery of the City’s key strategies and plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Waste and Cleaning Lead with innovation, change, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with planning, coordination and evaluation of operational objectives and projects.
  • Develop, implement and review programs, tasks and projects against KPIs and standards.
  • Review and update policies, procedures and work practices to improve efficiency.
  • Conduct research, trials and field testing to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Deliver the annual waste projects program in line with the City’s Waste Plan and long-term financial plans.
  • Assist with feasibility studies, planning activities and budget preparation.
  • Support procurement processes including tenders, EOI and quotations, and participate in evaluation panels.
Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar analytical role.
  • Strong experience researching, scoping, implementing and reporting on technical projects.
  • Ability to prepare business cases, reports and technical documents with complex financial details.
  • Knowledge of the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007 and relevant State and Local Government legislation.
  • Tertiary qualification in business administration, project management or related field.
  • Experience within Local Government and understanding of approval processes.
  • National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain.
