Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement and Contracts Officer to join their Finance and Procurement team. This temporary full-time position offers a genuine opportunity for extension or permanency based on performance.
You'll play a vital role in delivering value-for-money procurement outcomes, maintaining governance and legal compliance, and contributing to efficient, high-quality service delivery across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities ?
Procurement and Contract Management
- Provide expert advice to staff on procurement policies, practices, and compliance
- Prepare, evaluate, and assist in managing tenders and contract documentation
- Maintain and update the Tender Register in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Manage purchase requests, ensuring alignment with procurement policy
- Oversee supplier onboarding and database management in the finance system
- Ensure procurement decisions integrate safety, value, risk, and legal requirements
- Assist with cost analysis and compliance/non-compliance reporting
- Support the Procurement Coordinator and Manager of Financial Services in contract lifecycle administration
- Monitor contract milestones and ensure documentation is properly maintained
- Contribute to the development and improvement of procurement and contract procedures
- Maintain records of procurement and tender activities
- Manage general purchasing (e.g. stationery, milk supply) and access cards
- Respond to internal and external procurement inquiries
- Promote positive stakeholder relationships across departments
You’ll bring a strong foundation in procurement or contract administration with a solutions-focused mindset and attention to detail. You are confident in navigating complex purchasing environments and thrive in collaborative, service-driven settings.
- Proven experience in procurement, contracts, or purchasing across various categories
- Working knowledge of the end-to-end tendering and purchasing lifecycle, including invoicing and receipting
- Ability to communicate procurement policy clearly across all staff levels to ensure probity and accountability
- Strong administration and recordkeeping skills with high attention to accuracy
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in Local Government or a public-sector environment (highly regarded)
- Understanding of procurement legislation, risk, and governance
- Competency in finance systems and supplier management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with WHS requirements in procurement contexts
- Qualification in Procurement, Finance, or Management (desirable)
