ChoiceOne is recruiting a Parks Technical Officer to join a well-respected local council. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong horticultural knowledge and parks maintenance experience who enjoys a varied role combining office-based planning with time spent out in the field supporting projects and inspecting parks and reserves.

You'll play an important role in maintaining parks, reserves and public open spaces to a high standard while supporting the Parks Operations team with planning, technical advice and contract management.

The role

  • Split your time between the office and out in the field
  • Coordinate and oversee parks maintenance programs
  • Provide technical advice on horticultural practices and public open spaces
  • Assist with planning maintenance schedules and future works
  • Carry out site inspections and monitor the quality of works
  • Supervise contractors and monitor project delivery
  • Prepare specifications, quotations and tenders
  • Maintain asset records and technical documentation
  • Build positive relationships with contractors, staff and the community
  • Support the Parks Coordinator with leadership across the team

About you

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in parks, horticulture or open space management
  • Relevant horticultural or environmental qualifications, or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Experience coordinating contractors or leading maintenance works
  • Good computer and reporting skills
  • Current WA C Class Driver's Licence
  • Traffic Management and Senior First Aid tickets are advantageous
