Medical Secretary 
9-12 month contract - Maternity cover | Potential for Permanency 

Are you looking for your next opportunity to step into a specialist clinic and support community health by assisting with daily specialist functions and ensuring smooth, timely operations? 

Our client, a reputable Orthopaedic specialist clinic, is seeking a Part-Time Medical Secretary to cover a 9-12 month maternity leave contract. This role is perfect for someone with a can-do attitude who enjoys variety, works well under pressure, and thrives in a close-knit team environment.

About the Role:

Provide essential administrative and patient support within a busy Orthopaedic specialist clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level administrative support to 1 specialist doctor
  • Manage diaries, clinic schedules, and appointment bookings
  • Greet patients, manage check-ins, and coordinate waiting room flow
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence
  • Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, clinical notes, and medical files
  • Prepare and process hospital bookings, theatre lists, and surgical paperwork
  • Process payments, issue invoices, and manage Medicare, DVA, and private health claims
  • Type medical reports, letters, and correspondence
  • Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive patient information
  • Assist with preparation of clinic documents, presentations, and forms
  • Ensure consulting rooms and clinic areas are well organised and prepared
  • Support Practice Manager with administration and operational tasks
  • Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and strong customer service in all patient interactions
Requirements:
  • Must be proficient with Genie or Gen2 software. 
  • Experience in a specialist medical practice
  • Previous medical administrative or secretarial experience
  • Strong diary and meeting management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational capability
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid WA driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
