An outstanding opportunity is available for an experienced Governance Manager
to join a progressive and growing organisation within the local government sector. This is a senior leadership role offering genuine breadth, influence, and the opportunity to shape governance practices across a complex and evolving environment.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will lead a diverse governance portfolio spanning governance, compliance, audit, risk, complaints management, delegations, local laws, elections, and elected member support. Working within a collaborative and high-performing directorate, you will partner closely with senior leaders to strengthen governance frameworks, improve organisational capability, and support sound decision-making across the business.
This role is ideal for a strategic and commercially minded governance professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, driving continuous improvement, and leading teams through positive change.

You will be an experienced governance professional from local government, public sector, or another regulated environment, with the ability to provide strategic advice, interpret legislation, and build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.

- Strong governance, compliance, and risk management capability
- Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement experience
- The ability to influence and guide senior decision-makers
- A practical and solutions-focused mindset
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Previous experience supporting executives, boards, or elected representatives will be highly regarded. A legal background is advantageous but not essential.
