About the Role
- Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in designing, developing and improving equipment used across mining, exploration and water well drilling operations.
- Working closely with production, operations and customers, you'll be responsible for delivering practical engineering solutions that improve performance, reliability, safety and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mining, drilling and support equipment
- Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor
- Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) initiatives
- Manage engineering projects from concept through to production
- Conduct engineering calculations, testing and validation activities
- Work closely with fabrication, machining and assembly teams
- Support continuous improvement of existing products
- Investigate equipment performance and implement engineering solutions
- Develop technical documentation, manuals and specifications
- Provide customer technical support and site-based problem solving
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
- Minimum 5 years' experience in product design, heavy equipment design or DFM
- Advanced Autodesk Inventor experience
- Strong understanding of fabrication, machining and assembly processes
- Proven project management and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Highly Desirable
- Experience with mining, exploration drilling or water well drilling equipment
- CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) experience
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge
- PLC, automation, programming or control systems experience
- FEA (Finite Element Analysis) experience
- Experience within an OEM or heavy engineering environment
