Join a respected and growing local government organisation as an enthusiastic Economic Development Officer who is ready to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing growth and prosperity of the City.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will work closely with the Coordinator of Economic Development to engage and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, implement and review the City's strategies and initiatives, and actively promote the City as a destination of choice for business and investment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to add real value to a team that is committed to responsible, community-focused economic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, industry bodies, community groups, and key stakeholders to support the delivery of economic development initiatives.
  • Support the implementation and review of the City's Economic Development Strategy and associated plans, ensuring they remain current and aligned with organisational and community needs.
  • Provide assistance to existing and new businesses, including organising networking events, supporting business collaboration, and helping identify approvals, opportunities, and pathways for growth.
  • Deliver programs that promote job creation, workforce development, business innovation, and wellbeing economy objectives including circular economy and corporate social responsibility outcomes.
  • Research and prepare reports, discussion papers, and statistical data to support Council, committees, and internal stakeholders on a range of economic development matters.
  • Liaise with internal departments to develop and promote economic development campaigns, maintain community awareness, and ensure a high standard of customer-focused service.

About You

  • Relevant qualification in economic development, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a business or economic development role, with a sound understanding of contemporary practice within local government.
  • A natural ability to engage and inspire businesses and stakeholders to participate in and champion initiatives.
  • Confident in the use of computer applications and digital tools.
  • Willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance.
  • Available to work full-time hours, Monday to Friday.

Benefits of Joining

  • Be part of a supportive and friendly organisation where your contributions are genuinely valued and recognised.
  • Enjoy flexibility that empowers you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Play a meaningful role in shaping the growth and prosperity of your local community.
  • Receive a fair and competitive salary package that reflects your skills and experience.
  • Take the next step in your career and grow professionally within the government sector.
