Drill Fitter – FIFO | 2:1 Roster | $80–$85/hr
FIFO | 2:1 Roster | Production Drill Rigs | $80–$85 per hour
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Drill Fitter to join our team on a FIFO 2:1 roster, working on large production Caterpillar drill rigs, including CAT 640 and CAT 650 series equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified fitter who has extensive experience working on heavy mobile plant and production drill rigs, with strong mechanical and hydraulic capabilities.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, rebuilding and optimising large production drill rigs, ensuring equipment is operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
We are looking for a fitter with a proven background in complete machine rebuilds, major component overhauls, equipment upgrades and life-extension solutions across major drill rig brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete major drill rig rebuilds and overhauls.
- Carry out mechanical inspections, repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Perform major component overhauls and rebuilds.
- Undertake equipment upgrades and life-extension programs.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic faults.
- Carry out specialist hydraulic diagnostics and fault finding.
- Repair and overhaul hydraulic components.
- Identify opportunities for hydraulic system optimisation and performance improvements.
- Work safely and efficiently in a high-production mining environment.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to a high standard and within required timeframes.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant Australian trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Heavy Mobile Plant Fitter.
- Extensive experience working on production drill rigs.
- Strong experience with Caterpillar 640/650 series drills or comparable large-scale production equipment.
- Significant experience completing complete machine rebuilds and component overhauls.
- Experience with hydraulic hose manufacture and component repairs.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- The ability to independently diagnose faults and implement effective repairs.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and workmanship.
