An exciting opportunity to lead and strengthen the City’s procurement and contract’s function.
This senior role provides specialist advice across the organisation, ensuring procurement activities deliver value for money, legislative compliance, transparency, and best practice . You will also drive continuous improvement in procurement frameworks, policies, and systems.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer , you will coordinate procurement and contract management processes across the City while leading 3 direct reports.
You will work closely with internal departments, external suppliers, and stakeholders to manage procurement activities from planning through to contract management and review.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the City’s procurement planning and tendering processes.
- Develop and implement procurement policies, frameworks, and procedures.
- Provide expert procurement and contract management advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and review tender documentation, specifications, and evaluation reports.
- Ensure procurement activities meet legislative requirements, probity standards, and transparency obligations.
- Oversee contract administration, including preparation, extensions, variations, and terminations.
- Maintain the City’s tender and contract registers in line with relevant legislation.
- Deliver procurement and contract management training across the organisation.
- Analyse procurement data to identify trends, efficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure the effective use of the City’s ERP system for procurement and contract management.
- Lead and supervise a team of three staff members.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in procurement, contracts management, or a commercial environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, tendering processes, and contract administration.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating team outcomes.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement and initiative.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in procurement, law, commerce, accounting, business or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to obtain police clearance.
