The Opportunity:
Reporting to the head of service delivery, you will lead multidisciplinary operational teams responsible for delivering civil infrastructure maintenance and improvement programs to achieve excellence, across the city.
Supporting planning, budgeting and service delivery you will ensure safety and sustainability is at the heart of everything you do.
This is a hands-on leadership role where technical expertise, operational decision-making, and people leadership are equally important.
Responsibilities within the role:
Lead the delivery of sustainable civil infrastructure outcomes by developing and implementing strategic and operational plans within the technical services team.
Lead, develop, and empower high-performing teams by setting clear direction, fostering collaboration across functions, managing performance, and promoting results-driven work culture.
Provide direction and specialist technical advice across end-to-end procurement and contract activities, for the city’s civil works.
Drive accountability and continuous improvement by applying critical thinking to solve problems, enhance processes, and improve customer outcomes
Monitor stakeholder and customer trends to improve service delivery, ensuring responsive, data-informed solutions that meet evolving community needs.
About you:
We are seeking a highly capable professional who brings strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and the ability to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Extensive experience in Civil infrastructures, particularly road construction, maintenance, design and traffic engineering.
- Extensive project management experience , with a strong emphasis on planning and administration to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery outcomes.
- At least 5-8 years’ local experience in Civil infrastructure, specifically road constructions, maintenance, design and traffic engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS regulations , civil construction practices , and local government policies
- Extensive experience in budgeting, cost estimating and cost control, tendering and contract administration
- Solid understanding of project management , quality assurance principles, and materials management
- Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines
- Experience working in a service-based organisation delivering operational outcomes to the community (Local council experience is highly regarded)
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive experience in Civil infrastructures, particularly road construction, maintenance, design and traffic engineering.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, tendering/contracts admin and materials testing.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent which is recognised by Engineers Australia at Professional Level
- Certification in Worksite Traffic Management
- Possession of a current Construction Induction Card
- Possession of current C Class Drivers Licence
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current National Police Certificate
